Wet-dispersion.AID is a patent pending novel design of a wet cell optimized for morphology directed Raman spectroscopy in protein based and other formulations. Sampling with the wet cell preserves not only the shapes of semi-solid and even liquid particles, it also bridges from Flow Imaging (shadow counting) to scientific proof.

Examples of the measurement of inherent particles, mainly protein aggregates in a highly concentrated antibody formulation demonstrate the low spectroscopic background of this wet-dispersion.AID design.

Wet-dispersion.AID benefits

SPE morphologically directed Raman spectroscopy can identify silicone droplets (intrinsic particles) that give great Raman signals down to 1 µm diameter and fatty acids resulting from the hydrolysis of polysorbate. Any user will also be able to analyze larger visible particles > 80 µm easily with this setup.

  • Windows: fused silica, --> optical transmission range from 255 nm-850 nm.
  • Liquid layer thickness adjustable: 25 µm-700 µm --> resulting in a sample volume from 10-500 µL. 
  • Raman wavelength (tested): 532 nm, 785 nm --> no Raman background
  • Substrate: gold coated, Ni coated option available --> no Raman background signal, enhances Raman signals up to 90%
  • Sample holder fits right into the SPE ls setup and is adjusted to the standard height of the sample.
  • Multiple liquid cells can be prepared simultaneously and stored --> conduct time dependend experiments at similar or different physical conditions
